Philippians 1: 9-11 (NIV)
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ- to the glory and praise of God.
Do you ever feel like you are just surviving when it comes to your walk with Jesus? I do sometimes! Sometimes it feels like I'm hanging on by a thread, just making it from one moment to the next. What I love about the passage above is that Paul reminds us that we aren't just "getting by", rather we are moving towards something. In this passage we are moving towards:
-love that abounds more and more in knowledge and depth of insight
-being able to discern what is best
-being pure and blameless FOR the day of Christ
-being filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ
Stop and meditate on those.
What would it look like in your life if your love abounded more and more in knowledge and depth of insight?
What would your life look like if you were able to discern what is best?
What would it mean if you were pure and blameless for the day of Christ?
What would be it be like if you were filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus?
The good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ isn't just that we are saved from hell, rather we are brought into His righteousness! We have a hope and a future, God is moving us towards Him, not just away from hell. We are being prepared to be the Bride of Jesus. In that process the Lord, through the Holy Spirit, enables us to be a light in a dark and perishing world. This week I encourage you to pray over each of the above exhortations from Philippians and ask our Father to prepare you for the day of Christ!
Have a blessed week!
Tiana
